London has finally been recognised as the best city in Europe for events, and 2015 is set to be the capital’s biggest year. Fabric’s triumphant avoidance of closure has set the tone for a massive year, with exciting renovations, brand new openings, and an iconic, world-famous new-comer. Looking to hire somewhere for an event? We asked the experts at Hire Space for five places set to be at the centre of the action in the coming months.

1. The Department Store, Bermondsey Street

‘Been down to Bermondsey lately? It’s got the buzz of a place destined to explode this year. Markets, wine bars, exciting new restaurants – it’s a hotbed of renovation and innovation, and The Department Store is leading the way. It’s a warehouse space with siblings in Hoxton and Dalston, so expect it to be the setting of some of the year’s most blogged about pop-ups.’

Shoreditch-Town-Hall

2. Shoreditch Town Hall

‘Shoreditch Town Hall might seem old news, but this stunning venue is undergoing an incredible renovation this year. After raising an impressive £1.8 million, artistic director Nick Giles is taking this historic venue in exciting new directions.’

simulacra studios

3. AIRspace Brixton / Simulacra Studios

‘Photography studio by day, intimate club by night, these Brixton railway arches are getting serious bang for their buck. By hosting everything from photo shoots to Boiler Room sets to ultra on-trend corporate events, this venue is stretching the limits of what’s possible in an exciting, intimate space.’

museum of brands

4. Museum of Brands

‘This curious collection of bric-a-brac is experiencing a slightly unexpected surge in popularity. A museum of adverts, posters, classic brand packaging and all sorts of stuff – everything from retro Cadbury’s bars to vintage WW1 propaganda posters. A must-see if you work in design or marketing, this is a truly unique private dining venue.’

Sky Garden

5. Sky Garden at the Walkie Talkie

‘You can now visit the dizzying heights of the Walkie Talkie, free of charge. That’s right, none of the Shard’s £25 for a peep, just full access to one of London’s most breathtaking views. Shame it doesn’t look quite like the mock-ups. Yet!

2015 is going to be a seriously big year for innovative venues opening their doors to you and your event. Check out Hire Space to find the best of what’s out there this year.
