Curious about Crossrail? There’s a new exhibition at the London Transport Museum just for you

This Sunday, the London Transport Museum’s new exhibition, ‘Breakthrough: Crossrail’s Tunnelling Story’, will open its doors to us transport loving, Crossrail curious Londoners.

Forever wondering what the heck is going on down there? The exhibition will give us the chance to experience that hidden subterranean tunnel network, provide us with all the interesting construction details and – wait for it – let us play interactive tunnelling games!

Probably the coolest part, though, is the five metre-tall walk-through installation of a Crossrail tunnel, giving you a realistic impression of what it would be like to stand in the middle of one of those massive tunnels. Forget stuffy old-school exhibitions, the only boring bit in this installation is the computer simulation of those giant, tunnel boring machines.

Transport fans and design enthusiasts should approve of the shop that will be stocked up with Crossrail-inspired items like crocheted moles and gifts made from materials similar to those used in the building of Crossrail. Go on, treat yourself!
