To mark the impending DVD release of the fourth series of ‘Game of Thrones’, TV connoisseurs HBO are putting on a three night pop-up banquet exclusively for a handful of lucky fans. Taking place in the plush environs of the Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street (we’re guessing they’ll have hired out the amazing, ornate Masonic Lodge, though that’s purely speculation), the dinner aims to recreate the bloody-but-opulent atmosphere of the show via the medium of fancy grub, as prepared by suitably oldy-worldy-sounding cook The Wandering Chef.
But what is he actually going to be serving? If you’ve seen the show, you’ll know that red meats are pretty fashionable in the Seven Kingdoms, and indeed the only dish they’ve announced thus far labours under the unwieldy title of ‘The Lies of Tyrion Lannister and his Proclaimed Innocence’ (it’s actually veal tongue with beetroot and horseradish). We also reckon some kind of game pie will be dished up – let’s hope it doesn’t leave diners clutching their necks and getting all veiny like poor departed Joffrey. And we can only imagine the pun-tastic names they’ll come up with for the accompanying cocktails. Jon Snowball? Starks on the Beach? Whisky and Hodor?
So how can you, the hungry Westerosi, claim your ticket? Head to HBO UK and simply stick your name down. We imagine half of London are going to want to get in on this action, but hey – what have you got to lose?
