Woah, get a load of the Wellcome Collection’s brand spanking new staircase, created as part of its £17.5 million expansion.
This rather fabulous looking addition was designed by Stirling Prize-winning architects Wilkinson Eyre and has just been unveiled yesterday.
The asymmetric staircase has been sculpted from a 17.5 tonne steel structure and spirals through three floors, aiming to connect the remodelled spaces and new galleries.
‘The Institute of Sexology‘ exhibition at the Wellcome Collection is currently oversubscribed and this extensive expansion hopes to accommodate for larger numbers. There will be new galleries, a new restaurant, research space, a remodelled Reading Room and a second exhibition entitled ‘Forensics: The Anatomy of Crime’ that opens later this month (February 26).
