Pancake Day really crêped up on us, and now all of the sudden it’s National Chip Week – a time to take a moment out to pay our respects to the humble potato. Whether you like yours straight, skinny, chunky or curly, we’ve rounded up a few places to indulge during this very important celebration of the glorious spud:

Fried and tested

Sat at the very zenith of London-based fish and chippery is Fish and Chip Shop, which is celebrating this week with the ultimate posh-nosh: chip butties. Now, we know what you’re thinking… but these aren’t just any old chip butties, we’re talking deluxe versions of the childhood classic, with a clearly grown-up twist. This means chips topped with gold leaf salt and champagne vinegar; another with poached lobster and truffle dressing. AND they’re chipping into the spirit of things by giving them away for free, every day, all week. Oh. My. Cod.

Cheaper than chips

Sutton and Sons, purveyors of the classic fish and chips combo, have opened up a new posh restaurant at hipster hangout Boxpark: to celebrate chip week they’re serving up a regular helping of free chips with any fish bought. Go check the plaice out.

Getting thirsty?

Not strictly a chip off the old block, but what better combination than beer and chips, right? Well, perfect timing for London Beer Week – hello £3 pints and late-night fries. Bye bye current jean size.
