Where can you get a good meal out for less than a tenner?

‘There’s a Pakistani restaurant called Tayyabs in Whitechapel which I’ve been going to for years. It’s always a bit of scrum, not somewhere you’d go for a romantic meal, but it is what it is. And consistently very good.’

What about street food?

‘Jerusalem Falafel [Berwick Street Market] is the best. The wraps are so fresh because they make everything – the falafel, the bread – from scratch there, so it’s like a production line. It’s super-cheap: four or five quid, depending on size. And they sell out every day.’

Which is your favourite market in London?

‘There’s a really good farmers’ market at Stepney City Farm on Saturdays that’s local to me. They’ve got everything and there’s the odd sheep or chicken walking around while you’re buying your meat, which is fun. It’s much cheaper than Borough Market where they hoik the prices up.’
