There’s some hairy business going down at Somerset House. You may well have heard about ‘Beard’, the new exhibition of photographs of hirsute gentlemen (and the odd gentlewoman), which has just opened at the venue.
All the shots are by Brock Elbank, whose interest in beardiness took shape with ‘Project 60’ – a commission he took on to help support melanoma charity Beard Season. The exhibition includes the ‘Project 60’ images, plus several more snaps Brock’s taken of fabulous facial hair the world over.
Now there’s a chance to have your beard added to Brock’s canon. Somerset House are running a special Beard Booth Day this Saturday (March 7), inviting London’s hairiest to come down and have their photo taken.
Then, a panel of judges will consider the images and decide who has London’s best beard, with the winner receiving a photoshoot with Brock, and a LumeJet print on FujiFilm paper of the final shot.
The booth will be open 11am-3pm, with judging taking place at 5pm (aka the five o’clock shadow). Go down and get your follicular fancy recorded for posterity, before beards go out of fashion.
