‘If you can see it, you can change it’ – that’s the message of the latest campaign from Women’s Aid. The charity’s hoping to raise awareness of domestic violence issues with a hi-tech billboard in Westfield Shepherd’s Bush.
Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the billboard shows a striking image of a bruised and bloody woman’s face. It uses facial recognition technology to work out how many people are looking at it and as more passers-by to turn to look, the woman’s injuries will heal.
It’s hoped that the campaign will convey the message that it only takes one person to notice that someone is the victim of domestic violence for things to change. The faces of individuals who take the time to read the screen will then be shown in a strip at the bottom. Nearby Weve users will also be contacted about making a donation.
