Video: 562,000 tube journeys in two minutes

Posted at 5:45 pm, March 24, 2015 in Transport

Do you ever feel like you’re nothing but one of thousands of identical, faceless dots in someone else’s data visualisation? We’re afraid this won’t help.

Created by programmer Will Gallia, this animated timelapse video shows what it looks like when over half a million people squeeze themselves into the London Underground in a single day. Fairly predictably, the throng is at its peak during the morning and evening rush hours, before steadily thinning out as the nine-to-fivers make way for night workers and drunk idiots making unplanned 1am visits to High Barnet.

Kinda mesmerising, don’t you think?
