Time for tea at this Burlington Arcade pop-up

‘What is Burlington Arcade for?’, you might well ask. A peculiar assortment of shops cluster in this upmarket Victorian covered arcade just off Piccadilly; they tend to sell a variety of expensive goods you are never likely to want, let alone need. But at last there’s a reason to brush past the tunicked beadles – to make your way to a pop-up afternoon tea shop. You need to buy a ticket in advance, it’s that posh. The other clue that this is not regular tea-and-sarnie joint is the £65 per head price tag (yikes). But for that you get a champagne tea, with patisserie by a lady who has been head pastry chef at the Fat Duck and Gordon Ramsay. The pop-up’s run of a few weeks might be extended to the summer if it’s a success.
