Ever thought that London’s street signs could do with a bit of smartening up? Well, a person calling themselves the ‘Phantom Framer’ is doing just that. In Teddington, gold frames have been cropping up on street name signs, cycling signs and, our personal favourite, a dog poo sign.

So far, the Phantom Framer has made their mark on 13 signs in the borough, but those killjoys at Richmond Council have already started stripping the signs of their glitzy frames, as they are apparently not in keeping with the corporate policy on street signs and logos.

The Phantom Framer tweeted last week: ‘Oh dear #teddington someone has been removing my beautiful frames! What should I do #phantomframer‘. But whoever he/she is, they don’t seem that bothered about the council, and have hinted at plans to carry on. In an interview with Richmond and Twickenham Times, they said: ‘I am unsure as yet but the people of Teddington seem to like them so it would be a shame to let them down. You’ll be sure to know if the Phantom Framer strikes again.’
