UPDATE: TfL have now announced that they are postponing the closure of the Wells Terrace exit until further notice, in order to ‘minimise disruption’.

Prepare for frustration, Finsbury Park dwellers – TfL is planning a load of ‘station improvements’ at your local tube. Apparently it’s not a quick job either, as the work is going to go on for a lengthy four years. It all kicks off on April 20 and the biggest change will be the installation of ticket gates at the Station Place and Seven Sisters Road exits. At the moment, there are no gates at the exits so you can quickly touch out without getting stuck behind some infuriating person who doesn’t know how to handle an Oyster card. The new gates also mean that you can forget about cutting through the station as a shortcut.

They’ve also decided to permanently close the Wells Terrace exit, which leads to one of the main bus stations, meaning you’ll have to meander round the station to get there. Okay, so it’s not the most heinous crime in the world, but it will add on few precious minutes to your commute. But it’s not all bad news, as the plans also include adding new lifts, so there will be step-free access to all platforms.
