We first heard that the Thames could be getting its own lido back in February last year and now it seems it might not just be a pipe dream. Last week we announced that the Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the project was well on the way to meeting its £125,000 target and with just three days to go its now got more than 1,000 backers who have pledged over £127,000. Now that they’ve successfully smashed their fundraising target, the Thames Baths team are hoping to submit a planning application by the end of this year – and if it all gets the green light we could be dipping our toes in the Thames Lido by 2017. What with this and the new King’s Cross pond opening this week, it looks like London is really upping its game in the lido department. We definitely approve.

Read about what happened when we went for a swim in the new King’s Cross pond.
