If you’re walking through Leicester Square gardens (the green bit in the middle of the square) this bank holiday, you might think you’re hearing voices. But don’t panic, you’re not going crazy from the hordes of tourists eating M&Ms, it’s just a new art installation made from 1,000 talking tulips. The imitation flowers will be chatting about the history of Leicester Square, reciting famous Shakespeare quotes, sharing London tips, greeting visitors in seven different languages and even singing a couple of tunes. Using trigger sensor technology, the tulips will respond to visitors as they walk past – just don’t expect to be able to have a deep and meaningful chat with them.
Talking Tulips is on 8am-9pm, May 22-25. Leicester Square Gardens, WC2H 7JY.
