We got pretty damn excited when we heard back in March that a giant pair of slides were coming to the South Bank this summer as part of  Carsten Höller’s new show, ‘Decision’. And as if that wasn’t enough to satisfy the big kids among you, it looks like the interactive exhibition is about to get even more fun as you can now book to stay overnight on a moving bed in the gallery. The beds in the installation ‘Two Roaming Beds (Grey)’ are programmed to move around in relation to each other at a leisurely pace of 0.7 metres a minute, so you won’t be whizzing around while you snooze but you will probably wake up in a different part of the exhibition to where you went to sleep. Spooky.

As well as staying the night in the gallery you’ll be able to explore the exhibition after hours, which means you’ll have free reign to try out the upside down goggles, take flight with a flying mushroom mobile and most importantly, whizz down those giant slides as many times as you can manage. At £300 per night for both beds, it’s pretty steep for a night’s sleep, but if you’ve got the cash then get in there quickly as we reckon tickets are going to sell out pretty swiftly.

You can book a bed for one or two people Monday–Saturday for the duration of the exhibition (June 10–September 6). Dates for June go on sale this Wednesday (June 3). Beds cost £300 per night for both beds.

Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, SE1 8XX.
