You don’t necessarily have to shell out big to see great live music – catch talented acts every night at the city’s smaller, more reasonably priced venues. Here are five budget-friendly gigs this week.

Central
Mikky Ekko at The Water Rats

Most famous for being featured on Rihanna’s hit ‘Stay’, Ekko is a punchy vocalist from Louisiana. He showcases his funky pop-soul stew at this intimate London show.
Wednesday June 17. £8.

North
The Wave Pictures at The Dome

The indie trio spin engaging tales of urban misfortune backed by spiky, lo-fi guitar pop.
Thursday June 18. £10.

East
Jaakko Eino Kalevi at Courtyard Theatre

Young Finnish musician (and former tram driver) JEK crafts spellbinding, disco-tinged dream pop. We loved his recent debut LP; now hear him bring it to life.
Friday June 19. £8.50.

West
Pimlico Proms at St George’s Square

Bring a picnic for an open-air evening of music in St George’s Square, right by the river in Pimlico. Performers include the Kew Wind Orchestra.
Friday June 19. £6, £3 concs.

South
New Cross Independent Label Fair at New Cross Inn

Some cool local record labels rock up for a Sunday afternoon mini-market with guest DJs. Stick around for live bands from 7pm.
Saturday June 20. Free.
