We asked London’s most distinctive Instagrammers to give us a tour of their favourite market through the lens of their smartphone camera – for a truly personal set of stall stories. @Charlala shows us around Brixton Market.
‘We are so spoiled as Londoners! I love street food and farmers markets – the lively atmosphere, colourful produce and friendly sellers all contribute to the experience. My boyfriend is a talented cook, and we always come away from food markets with enough groceries to feed an army.’
In my basket: ‘Scotch bonnets are the fiery hearts of Brixton, and can be found at almost every grocers in this market. I love the cheese from The Bath Soft Cheese Co, it’s creamy, strong and beautifully packaged. The freshest fish comes from Jeffries and the charming folk at Cannon & Cannon make it impossible to resist sampling a salami or three.
You’re never short of brunch options in Brixton Village or Market Row on a weekend. Federation Coffee is my favourite spot for a caffeine boost. Team it with a breakfast bun from Picks Organic Farm Shop. And, if you’re looking for a gift try a woven basket from Rachel & Malika.’
Brixton Market, Electric Avenue, Pope’s Road, Brixton Station Road, SW9 8JX. Mon, Tue, Thu-Sat; 8am-6pm. Wed; 8am-3pm.
