Remember the Long Table? It was a food-lovers’ fiesta, right in the heart of Dalston, and a runaway success. This year, the same team have gone bigger and (hopefully) better, with a new event called ‘Feast’. They’ll be pitching up in Guy’s Quadrange, a pretty Georgian Square close to London Bridge, with their merry band of brothers: from the barbecue boys of Duke’s Brew & Que to new ramen maestros Tonkotsu; from the Hawksmoor meat men to Morito. Six quid gets you entry to the event (or there are discounts for groups of six or more, if you have that many friends). Once in, the entertainment (including art installations and music by up-and-coming DJs and bands), is free, but food and drink are pay-as-you-go. Tania Ballantine

As if that wasn’t enough to get your mouthwatering, we’ve also asked some of London’s best food bloggers to pick their fave dishes in the capital.Today is the turn of Bread et Butter, whose top ten includes the Cuttlefish cheung fun at Princess Garden. And just for you, we asked her to tell us more about her favourite dish…

Tamworth belly ribs at Hawksmoor

The Western world is on the edge of bankruptcy; the Euro looks as precarious as a collapsing soufflé; and your family have disowned you since you took that job at Fat Cat Inc and started driving a BMW. But there’s no need to worry, as you can still go out and spend that banker’s bonus in some style in the City when there are truly wonderful bars such as Hawksmoor Guildhall around. You don’t need to book, you don’t need to eat (though the bar snacks are ace), and the historically-themed cocktails are worth bankrupting a few small Third World Nations for. There’s clearly no debt crisis here when cocktails are selling for a tenner or more each – and for that you get premium spirits, excellent mixing skills, and frankly one of the most appealing bars you’re going to find in the City. Lovely service in a bar where suits are welcome, a great setting, knee-trembling drinks – what more do you want? A raise? Guy Dimond

The Bootstrap Company, better known as the team who launched the über-trendy Dalston Roof Park, are collaborating with chef Nuno Mendes of Viajante and The Loft Project to open a new weekly night market in Dalston. The Long Table will be serving a range of small plates in a car park on Abbott Street, and will be joined by a roster of top street food vendors, and even five-star steakhouse Hawksmoor and Exmouth Market stalwart Moro. According to the organisers, there will be hot dogs, Vietnamese banh mi, steamed buns, jerk chicken, pizza, tapas and more besides; names already on the list include Big Apple Hot Dogs, Yum Bun and ShoFooDoh. The Long Table runs every Friday evening from 6pm until midnight, and closes 16 December 2011.

The anti-capitalist Occupy London protest outside St Paul’s Cathedral has a vegetarian soup kitchen set up in a tent, dispensing free hot meals to the hundreds of protestors pitched up nearby. Ten minutes away, past the adjacent Champagne bar and into the heart of the City, is a brand new steakhouse that celebrates the pleasures of the flesh. Dinner here, per head, costs one week’s worth of Jobseeker’s Allowance. But we sent our fearless reporters into the belly of the beast, and here’s our report of what to expect from the serial grillers’ latest operation. And we have to say: if you can ignore the uncomfortable realities of the London outside its doors, Hawksmoor Guildhall (above/below) is a winner.

Today the pair join forces. Richard Turner and Will Beckett (respectively head chef and co-owner of Hawksmoor) take over the truck’s services from 6-10pm, serving Pitt Cue Co. classics as well as their own ribs, kimchi and a ‘not dog’ of spiced pork and beef, all of which can be washed down with pale ale, a beer-and-shot combo or a ginger brew created by award-winning Hawksmoor bartender, Shaky Pete. Queues expected.
