The dangerous Dane is back. The first trailer for Lars von Trier’s ‘Melancholia’ (above), his first film since the hugely controversial ‘Antichrist‘, was launched this morning. Subtitled ‘A beautiful movie about the end of the world’, the film sees Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland and Udo Kier all lining up for the von Trier treatment. By the look of the trailer, it’s a film about the impending apocalypse rudely interrupting a high-society wedding. Oh, and there’s a scene with light emanating from Dunst’s fingers. ‘Festen’ meets ‘Deep Impact’, then? The film should have its world premiere at Cannes in May and opens on July 1.
