London International Animation Film Festival reclaims cartoons for adults

The London International Animation Film Festival (LIAF) returns for its 8th year at Barbican Centre this Friday (to September 4) and showcases animation from around the globe. Incorporating the exciting, the intriguing and the downright controversial, the 10 day festival screens new work from artists including Wojtek Wawszczyk (with an exclusive Q&A following a showing of his new film ‘George the Hedgehog’ on August 29), Phil Mulloy and Dietmar Schwartzler. The LIAFF aims to show attendees that animation doesn’t have to be solely associated with the CGI worlds of Pixar (fantastic though they are), and that the medium can be used to explore truly adult-only themes in a unique and innovative way. Some events need to be booked well in advance.
