Capital Growth wants to help Londoners transform the capital by creating 2,012 new food growing spaces by the end of 2012. Over 40 of these spaces are open to the public during Edible Gardens Day this Saturday (times vary according to individual location). Learn about food growing in urban environments, sample local produce and go on walking and bike tours, some of which will be guided. A list of participating food-growing spaces can be found online, and cover every area of London. Interested in starting a community food-growing project in London? Anyone can join the Capital Growth network (provided the project involves 5 people, 5 sq meters of land and is in London): it’s free and provides many benefits. Go along and see how the capital is growing for yourself: this is one blooming marvellous initiative.
