Merge Festival never recordsTed Riederer (above) and his Never Records – a pop-up shop concept which began 18 years ago in an abandoned, disused Tower Records premises and has previously graced streets and abandoned buildings in NYC, Derry and Liverpool – appears at Merge Festival in London. The 2-month event launched yesterday at Bankside, and Riederer is there with his art installation that mocks a record shop, in which he sells music which is recorded in the space itself (artists drop in to make their tunes by invitation), pressing up 2 copies of a 12-inch, giving 1 copy to the performer and playing the other in-store. Performers interested in being recorded should email neverrecordslondon@gmail.com.

For info, see Merge Festival 2011: Ted Redeirer listings.
