Have an epic, eccentric Bavarian Christmas

We probably wouldn’t have pegged Werner Herzog as a director whose films would work particularly well over the Yuletide season, but we’d be fools not to recommend you clamber down to the ICA to catch one of his mad-eyed epics on the big screen. Volatile leading man, Klaus Kinski, heads down river into the heart of darkness in 1972’s lunatic saga, ‘Aguirre: The Wrath of God’ (above). He stars again in 1982’s arguably even crazier ‘Fitzcarraldo’, in which he attempts to bring Opera to the Amazon basin by lugging a steamship over a hill, the real-life logistical traumas of which are captured in Les Blank’s ‘Burden of Dreams’.

All three are receiving multiple screenings, see timeout.com/film for full listings.
