To celebrate London Fashion Week we asked a selection of top designers to tell us their favourite spots for shopping, relaxing and getting inspired.
Turkish designer Bora Aksu has won the NewGen award for design an impressive four times. His label is characterised by its imaginative take on party dressing, with interesting twists and sculptural detailing making formal dressing striking and fun.
Shop: Wolf & Badger is very unique and a great shop for individuality. I’m looking forward to seeing their new space in Dover Street. I am also in love with books andFoyles on Charing Cross road is a favorite since my college days as it was next door to Central Saint Martins’s old location.
Café: Dose Espresso close to Barbican does very good coffee(fair trade as well).
Bar: I’m not a big drinker but I do enjoy the atmosphere of the Experimental Cocktail Club.
What are you looking forward to seeing in 2012? I am really looking forward to see the ‘Yayoi Kusama’ exhibition at Tate Modern in February as one of my college projects was inspired by her work. I am also looking forward to see ‘Picasso and Modern British Art’ at Tate Britain as I just read a biography of Picasso and it will give me a new insight to view his art.
Secret London spot: The Whitechapel Gallery bookshop is my secret spot to find unusual and limited edition books. I can stay there for ages.
Hairdresser: Vision just off Brick Lane is great. Ross is responsible for some of the hairstyles of my team.
Treat: Necco – the Japanese coffee shop/restaurant on Exmouth Market is such a treat for me. I also like lunch at Shoreditch House.
