Future Shorts Film Festival pops up
Having written the book on clandestine film, the team behind Secret Cinema set out last year to conquer another previously non-existent niche: pop up shorts. Now in its second season, the Future Shorts Film Festival has already sprung up in 4 continents, 55 countries and 144 cities, from Flagstaff, Arizona to Tokyo, Japan. This year’s spring programme features ‘Mourir Auprès de Toi’ (below, bottom) a new ‘tragicomic stop-motion animation’ co-directed by Spike Jonze and Simon Cohn starring a lovestruck felt skeleton. Sam Taylor-Wood meanwhile presents ‘Love You More’ (below, top), a punk love story inspired by the Buzzcocks song of the same name, and produced by Oscar winner Anthony Minghella.
London screenings take place at the Hackney Picturehouse (March 5), Brixton’s Ritzy Picturehouse (March 12), and The Book Club in Shoreditch (March 23). Book now. Nick Aveling
