I chose not to choose life: I chose something Welsh

With the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy hitting cinemas this weekend, and the return of the iconic ‘Trainspotting’ crew in brutally raw prequel novel ‘Skagboys’, we’re going a bit mad for the author here at Time Out. Our exclusive interview with the cutting-edge Scottish author came out this morning, and we’re following up with a sold-out evening with him at the Old Vic Tunnels tonight, including a preview screening of Ecstasy ahead of its release this Friday. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones to nab a ticket in time, then don’t worry, because we’ve got some alternatives for you…

Later tonight, Ministry of Sound host the  official afterparty for the Ecstasy screening, featuring Welsh on the decks alongside the likes of Basment Jaxx and Bushwacka! for £6.

Tomorrow, Welsh is appearing at the ever brilliant Book Slam in Kings Cross, with his sometime writing partner Dean Cavanagh, where there’ll also be twisted magic from Stuart & Barry, music from Drums Of Death and other diversions for a tenner.

Then on Thursday, the hard-working writer will be at the Leadenhall Market Waterstones, signing copies of his new novel – and that’s absolutely free.

And like we say, the film itself is out on Fridaysearch here to find it at a cinema near you.

So whether it’s late-night partying you want or an intimate meet-and-greet, we’ve got you covered.  Danielle Goldstein
