Butcher’s hook with Bowl of Chalk

Posted at 8:30 am, April 20, 2012 in Arts & Entertainment

Bowl of chalkBowl of Chalk (cockney rhyming slang for ‘walk’) is a new London walking tour, but with a twist. These tours are done by a local for locals or, indeed, anyone wanting a more intimate and informal experience combined with local knowledge. There are three tours to go on, taking roughly 3 hours: the first, on Saturday mornings is from Trafalgar Square to St Paul’s; the second, on Saturday afternoons, is from St Paul’s to Monument; and the third, on Sunday mornings, is around the East End, starting in Old Street. The walks are happening this weekend, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, and check the website for subsequent dates. Best of all, the walks are done by tips, so you basically pay what you think the walk/tour was worth, or however much you can afford if you’re a bit strapped. Piers Garthwaite.
