Global Feast

If the recession has you sticking to a staycation this year, don’t fret. You don’t need to leave the capital, or for that matter, Covent Garden, to eat your way around the world. On the afternoon of Saturday July 14, St Martin’s Courtyard in Covent Garden will play host to an open-air festival of street food, with plenty of freebies (such as cucumber sarnies from Bill’s and 2000 tequila cocktails from Cantina Laredo) as well as a £10 mini wine-tasting at Dalla Terra and a variety of hot dishes on sale, be it Bombay chip butties from Dishoom, Thai fishcakes from Suda, or spit-roast meat from Jamie’s Italian. Entrance to the event, which will be brought to life with a mariachi band, Indian drummers and Thai dancers, is free.
