Bastille Day

As the world slowly starts to focus on London for the next month, we thought it would be a bit selfish to take all the glory and wanted to give France a bit of love. Today (July 14) is Bastille Day after all, and we’ve found some of the best things to do in London if you can’t make it across the Channel…

Midnight Apothecary at the Brunel Museum
Get a taste of France as the Brunel Museum’s resident gardener Lottie Muir ditches the gardening gloves and dons an apron to whip up some French inspired cocktails from 5pm until 10.30pm.

Bastille Day at Borough Market
Who doesn’t love a Saturday at Borough Market and with so many French traders calling it home, it’s not surprising that they’ll be celebrating Bastille Day with three sessions of traditional French food and entertainment throughout the day.

Canary Wharf Bastille Day Celebration at Canada Square Park
What’s better than indulging in some French cheese and wine while lounging in the park? Well, a lack of rain for a start –  but also some live performances. Canada Square Park will be hosting a series of French-themed musical shows for free from 1.30pm.

Bomb Shop Bastille Day BBQ at Brixton Windmill
Ten hours of music and a free BBQ? Where do we sign? This Bastille Day themed shindig will have you swooning away to folk music and electronica all day and night.

Pétanque Garden Party at Chelsea Physic Garden
Some may think it’s all a load of boules but Bastille Day is the perfect time to try  pétanque and grab a pernod from the bar. Enjoy the sun (hopefully), French food, wine and music from 11am.
