The best British chef that hardly anyone has heard of? Well, hardly anyone in the UK at least… Here’s your chance to get to know Brummy-born April Bloomfield better. She’s taking a break from her acclaimed New York restaurants for a two-day residency at St John Hotel in Chinatown for two days only, October 30-31. As much of a believer in nose-to-tail eating as St John’s founder, Fergus Henderson, April cut her teeth at Kensington Place, Bibendum and the River Café before heading stateside to introduce New York to the British gastropub. Eight years, three restaurants and two Michelin stars later, she’s back in the UK to promote her first cookbook (‘A Girl and Her Pig’) and, of course, to cook with Fergus.
