South London Peninsula Film Crawl at Scala Beyond

Posted at 10:00 am, September 19, 2012 in Arts & Entertainment

The Scala Beyond film festival, taking place at venues across the capital until Sept 29, aims to recapture the spirit of London’s much-missed fleapit cinema with a season of exploitation classics, experimental oddities and wild all-night events. We asked a handful of the festival’s key programmers to pick the screening they’re most excited about. This is the fourth in an ongoing series of blog posts keeping you up to date with the best events across the festival.

Michael Pierce, producer of Scala Beyond and programmer of Midnight Movies

His recommendation: The South London Peninsula Film Crawl on Sept 22-23

What is it? The Film Crawl takes Scala Beyond punters around the theatres and key film locations of South London, from the Cinema Museum to the Roxy to the Shortwave, exploring the history and impact of our thriving cinema culture.

Why will it be great? Pierce: ‘It’s too hard to select a single favourite screening, but I’m most excited about the collaborative events like the Film Crawl, a fun and informative tour which will showcase the vibrancy and diversity of film screenings in London whilst highlighting the history of filmgoing in the capital.’
