The French are coming. At least, that’s what the papers tell us. No longer allowed to chop off the heads of aristocrats, France’s socialist president Francois Hollande plans to hit his country’s wealthiest citizens with prohibitive taxes. Unsurprisingly, many are choosing to ‘flee’. Where are they headed? Why, London of course. (We don’t call South Ken the 21st arrondissement for nothing). Thus, the opening of an upmarket brasserie (from the chaps behind The Wolseley, no less) couldn’t be better timed. It’s full of posh Gallic cooking to make this wave of well-heeled immigrants at home, and in a plum site on Sloane Square, just minutes from the Francophile (and Francophone) heartland.
