London will continue to ride the cycling wave following last week’s news that the Tour de France is coming back to Britain. 2014 will see the tour’s Grand Depart take place in Leeds, Yorkshire, before heading to London where the world’s most mega bicycle race will make its way to mainland Europe. With Britain’s cycling team cleaning up at the Olympics, Bradley Wiggins being crowned Sports Personality of the Year and the news that the Tour will visit our shores for the first time since 2007, the UK looks set to enjoy another cycling frenzy. Cyclists among you might have your fingers crossed that the arrival of Le Tour will encourage councils to repair some of the potholes and sort out dangerous roundabouts and junctions. We can but hope. Jonno Hopkins
More details will be revealed on January 17.
