A feast full of forgotten foodie love this Valentine’s Day

Posted at 3:30 pm, January 30, 2013 in Food & Drink

Feeling unloved? So was Tom Hunt’s meat and veg before he got his hands on it. The eco chef and food waste campaigner is back for another Forgotten Feast of foods that would have been destined for landfill. Kinked carrots and curved cucumbers just aren’t acceptable these days according to the supermarkets, so they end up getting dumped. For the Alternative Valentine’s Banquet, Forgotten Feast have teamed up with the Jack and Ada Beattie Foundation  (who work with vulnerable and marginalised groups in London and the Midlands) to raise awareness about food waste and food security. Predictably, their Alternative Valentine’s Banquet is more group love-in than a couples’ night with everyone eating at communal tables. Dishes on the menu include sustainable deep-fried oysters with aioli and a hearty game ragù, and of course, some knobbly veg. Go on, share the love…

February 14th, 7pm. Tickets £40 (£35 early bird) are available beattiefoundation.com.
