There must be something in the air – maybe it’s because spring is finally here – but New Orleans seems to be flavour of the month in London. The Jam Tree is offering a menu of Cajun and Creole dishes over the next couple of weeks in both its Chelsea and Clapham branches. Head over for blackened shrimps with grits and refried green tomatoes, Louisiana crab cakes with ‘dirt’y rice, pulled pork burgers with ’slaw and fries, and ‘banana fosters’ – flambéed bananas with vanilla ice-cream. But the signature dish will be jambalaya, Louisiana’s vibrant, spicy take on paella. Served in a big pan for sharing, it will be available in three versions: chicken, crawfish and chorizo or vegetarian. We can’t promise the sexy, steamy climate or the raucous atmosphere of the French Quarter, but there’ll be Southern Comfort cocktails and a jazz-funk soundtrack to help you get in the party vibe.
