The campaign to save London’s most famous skate spot from redevelopment continues apace with features on the evening news, column inches galore, including in The Daily Mail (who knew – thanks guys!), and a petition that so far has nearly 27,000 signatures. If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, get yourself down to the Southbank Centre’s undercroft this weekend (Sat-Mon) for a free, three-day skate jam that kicks off at noon every day. There’ll be free skateboarding lessons (until 1.30pm), pro skater demos, competitions, DJs, a photography exhibition and even a mini film festival, all celebrating the space’s 40-year history as the home of British skateboarding – but for how much longer?
