Screw on you, Mr Ozone layer. The Queen of Hoxton bar is celebrating summer whether you like it or not. Anyone familiar with QoH already will know that, in the wise words of Yazz, the only way is up; their rooftop is the place to be. Over the slightly over-long winter (which extended its usual reign of a few months to 200 years) the Queen of Hoxton’s top floor was a wigwam of comfort to huddle away from in the cold. But now the rafters have been adorned in grass-style carpets, floral decor, and obviously a canopy because it’s still bloody freezing.
The summer makeover will hopefully make the sun want to escape from behind all those hideous grey fluffy things as the beautiful rooftop is set to boost summer right into our hearts. Their BBQ serves up grilled goods to keep energy levels sunny, and there’s a luxurious array of fancy cocktails (the lemongrass vodka iced tea in particular really hits the spot) to keep you lubricated as you gaze over the rooftops of Shoreditch. A hodgepodge of some of London’s hottest DJs (From Norman J to Jazzy B) are on board to provide a soundtrack, so it’ll feel like you’re living in your own private festival, without having to wee in a crisp packet or risk accidently watching Florence and the Machine for the 14th time that day. In fact, it’s such a quintessentially British and lovely spot to while away the hours, you’ll most likely never want to go indoors again.
The rooftop is now open. For info, see queenofhoxton.com.
