Last summer Bikeminded held a competition wittily called ‘Cycle Shorts’, where they asked people to make bike-related films that would help encourage people to get on their two-wheeled steeds. They have selected the best of the cycletastic cinematography and will be screening them at Notting Hill’s Coronet Cinema to launch their first ever Bikeminded Film Festival.
The films will be introduced by IBIKELONDON blogger Mark Ames and Bikeworks’ Jim Blakemore. As a grand finale they will be screening ‘Janapar’ which is a film documenting Englishman Tom Allen’s plan to cycle a lap of the Earth. Without using maps he and his bike see some amazing sights and meet people from all different walks of life. Along the way he finds that sometimes life takes you on journeys you just can’t plan.
Let’s all lock our bikes together on Notting Hill Gate’s railings and carb up on popcorn. Jude Brosnan
