If buying wine from the back of a van makes you think of Del Boy’s antics, then think again – Wine Car Boot’s a far classier affair. Independent London wine shops including Borough Wines, Bottle Apostle, Planet of the Grapes and others will be touting their wares at the event, being held at Hackney’s Netil Market on September 1. Each will bring five or so of their favourite wines for browsers to try – and buy if they like what they sample. There will also be food shacks on site to soak up all those samples. Stallholders include Hackney fishmongers Fin & Flounder serving sustainable fish and chips, Breddo’s with tacos, and Bao with Taiwanese folded, steamed gua bao buns. Tickets (£15) include 10 tasters, a ‘Wine Car Boot’ branded Govino tasting glass and a wine bottle carrier. Wine can also be bought by the bottle or glass.
If you can’t make it to this one, then Wine Car Boot Sale should be popping up at other London sites soon, so keep an eye on the twitter feed @WineCarBoot
Netil Market, Westgate St, E8 3RL. Open noon-6pm, September 1. Book at winecarboot.eventbrite.co.uk, or buy on the door.
