Bloomsbury has long been a place of intellect and influence – just ask the 50,000 visitors who flock to the area every year for the Bloomsbury Festival. Now in its eighth year, the festival will be hosting over 200 completely free events from October 15-20. The theme for this year’s proceedings is ‘vitality’, with headliners including Will Self (who’ll be exploring the relationship between modern life and madness at Senate House on Oct 16), West End titan Sir Tim Rice (who’s hosting a musical masterclass on Oct 17) and former poet laureate Sir Andrew Motion, who’ll be reciting his work on Oct 18.
The Festival will end with a family friendly event in Russell Square over the weekend including a SOAS World Music Stage, pop-up contemporary dance flash-mobs, a bloom of handmade paper flowers and installations by Wellcome Collection among tons of other arts and crafts workshops.
