The Swedish (and Norwegian and Danish) spots you need to visit

The Oxford Street Christmas lights are up, the shops are full of reindeer-bedecked jumpers, there’s a definite chill to the air… oh, and our favourite Nordic political drama, ‘Borgen’, is back on the telly – Saturday November 16, 9pm, BBC4, to be precise. Yep, it looks as if London’s about to get all Scandi-obsessed again. Which is the perfect excuse (if one were needed) to check out the capital’s best Scandinavian restaurants.

We’re very fond of the cinnamon buns at Soho’s Nordic Bakery, Scandinavian Kitchen is useful for a quick and tasty lunch when braving the marauding shopping hordes on Oxford Street, and Madsen is handy if you’re visiting the South Ken museums. But our current favourite – for a warm welcome and exemplary Swedish home cooking including some excellent meatballs – is the Stockholm Restaurant & Deli in East Sheen.
