It’s a little quiet in the city this weekend as we all get over the excesses of Christmas… but here’s a fair fistful of fun ideas for your consideration anyway. Enjoy!

1) It’s the final weekend of Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland
2) Peer through the giant telescope at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich
3) Watch world-class table tennis at the World Championship of Ping Pong, Alexandra Palace
4) Come and see Jake & Dinos Chapman’s show at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery
5) The Harry Potter sets are still rocking a festive makeover, Watford
6) Romantic maritime paintings at Turner & The Sea, Greenwich
7) Or there are eight more about-to-finish art shows on this weekend, too
8) Say sayonara to Santa at Geffrye Museum’s Farewell to Christmas event, Dalston
9) Or visit the Globe for their free Twelfth Night celebration, Bankside
10) Make a saving at one of the January sales
11) London’s nightlife is mostly sleeping off NYE, but there are 8 gigs and 12 club nights on offer
12) A smorgasbord of great movies in cinemas right now: 12 Years A Slave, All Is Lost, American Hustle, Blue Is The Warmest Colour, Saving Mr Banks, Nebraska, The Wolf of Wall Street
13) Or book yourself tickets for one of these eleven plays and musicals we love (and ten more all opening in January)
14) Stepping up your personal fitness this year? Check our guides to London’s swimming pools, gyms, running shops, cycling, and walking routes
15) Or, y’know, just have a soak in a spa
16) If you’re avoiding booze in January, forsake the temptation of the pub and meet friends for one of London’s best breakfasts or a damn fine cup of coffee
17) Make plans for the year ahead with our guide to 2014’s most promising music acts, gigs, films, museum exhibitions and art shows – oh, and here’s our events calendar too!
