London’s worst housing adverts

Gumtree ad
Last week we told you about the Gumtree ad offering a ludicrously small loft room (if you can call it that) in Paddington to rent for £40 a week. Hard to say whether it was serious or tongue-in-cheek, but it certainly prompted plenty of gnashing of teeth over the state of London’s rental market. Well, we’ve got news for you: you can get a lot less tempting living arrangements for £40 a week. Here’s a selection of other genuine ads we found online. Think of it as the property notice board you never, ever, want to have to resort to..

Room for share (above) near Plaistow tube station. (two mins walk)

Shared room available. Already two students live in room. This is very big. Suitbale for 3 people. All bills included plus internet.

Studio garage in flat. £30 per week.

Single garage behind a purpose-built block in South Hampstead, within walking distance of West Hampstead tube (Jubilee line) and Finchley Road tube (Jubilee line). Would suit local residents who require secure parking.

Free for young, fit girl.

I have a house free to any young, fit girl. Nice, quite clean place and two tube lines in return for some stress relief a couple of times a week. Reply with some info and pic.

Uh oh.
