On Sunday February 2, Bethnal Green’s Oval Space will say hello to a brand-spanking-new fashion market (yippee!) Here’s five things you need to know about Fashion Sunday…
1. First things first – it takes place on a Sunday
OK, you probably guessed that bit. But what goodies can you expect to find at this one-day shopping bonanza? Among the contemporary womenswear and menswear labels currently confirmed are Peter Jensen, Emma Shipley, Moxham, Kitty Joseph, Kelly Love and Paper London. And there are more to be announced…
2. As a designer market, you’re not going to get high-street prices
But many of the exhibitors at Fashion Sunday are stocked in major department stores like Selfridges – where their items sell for a lot more. Here’s a chance to get the labels for less – and as the designers take 100 percent of the profit, you’re helping them out too. Well done you.
3. Turn up hungry for the full experience
To fuel your browsing, there’ll be food on hand from Forza Win supper club and a champers bar. And while you’re sipping and shopping, live DJs will be spinning beats on the decks, so it’ll be a proper East End knees-up, too.
4. The good news for you: this market takes cards
The bad news for your bank balance: this market takes cards.
5. It’s not a one-off event
But it is one you should keep an eye on. The market’s creative mind, designer Tiffany Alwis, tells us that some major labels have been showing interest – and given that the market’s line-up will be mixed up each month, you never know who might turn up.
Get excited – Fashion Sunday takes place on Sun Feb 2 at Oval Space, 29-32 The Oval, E2 9DT. £3 on the door. Flo Wales Bonner
