An ambitious new scheme involving hundreds of the best museums and galleries across the UK and Europe kicks off today. In an attempt to connect young people with art, culture, science and history, #museumweek will be talking to the youth on a platform they’re comfortable with – Twitter.
Running from March 24-30, the scheme will offer Twitter users unprecedented access to some of Europe’s leading museums and a number of featured artists, all in digestible 140 character portions. As well as the big hitters like the Natural History Museum and V&A, some of the UK’s more specialist museums have signed up too, with the Roald Dahl Museum in Buckinghamshire and Cumbria’s home of graphite-filled wonders, the Pencil Museum on board for the interactive scheme.
The organisations involved will use the hashtag #museumweek on all of the relevant associated content and each weekday will feature a different theme such as #museumselfies, #askthecurator and #museummemories. Get involved!
