Fancy catching some new music without breaking the bank? Here are a few hot gigs happening this week across the city…

One of the best new live acts we’ve seen in a while, Heavenly Records’ latest signings bust out joyous, jangling shoegaze-pop with no shortage of great melodies. The Social. Oxford Circus tube. Wed Jul 2. £5.

EAST: Mapei

Catch this Swedish-American singer now. Her smart R&B songs and smoky voice could make her a big draw when she releases her album in September. Cargo. Shoreditch High St Overground. Wed Jul 2. £7.50.

NORTH: Dancing Years

Five hotly tipped boys from Leeds show their sensitive sides, deploying guitars, violin and piano to create heart-tearing folk-pop. Roundhouse Studio. Chalk Farm tube. Mon Jul 7. £5 adv.

WEST: Shadrack Tye

The family band from south London headline a folk-flavoured five-band bill, which also includes sweet young Liverpudlian country singer Katie Nicholas. Bush Hall. Shepherd’s Bush tube. Sun Jul 6. £5-£9.

SOUTH: Vince Dunn Orchestra

How’s this for versatility? Powerful drummer Dunn has worked with artists as diverse as Roy Ayers, Blu Cantrell and Pharrell Williams. He and his band play thumping jazz and funk in deepest SW16. Hideaway. Streatham rail. Sun Jul 6. £10.
