Ham Yard Hotel: the perfect place to meat

It’s not often a fabulous new designer hotel opens in central London, and it’s even rarer that it’s a short stroll from Piccadilly Circus. Ham Yard is a new development on a former World War II bomb site, which – amazingly – escaped redevelopment for most of the last 70 years. Firmdale Hotel Group, the new owners, have invested £90 million in the 3/4 acre site, to turn it into the  the showpiece of their already impressive Monopoly board set of hotels (Charlotte Street Hotel, Haymarket Hotel, Soho Hotel, etc). Of course, there’s a glamorous bar and restaurant, which we reviewed a few weeks ago. But we particularly like the outdoor dining area – currently one of the best in Soho. If only the sun would reappear, now…
