Continuing with our totally terrific top ten countdown towards London’s best restaurant, take a look Barnyard on Goodge St, which has made it in at number six!
As dirty little sisters go, they don’t get much dirtier than Barnyard (and we mean that in a good way). This no-bookings sibling to Dabbous has an intentionally rough-and-ready vibe: barn wood, oil barrels as seats and plaid-clad staff you’d definitely fancy a roll in the hay with. As for the transatlantic menu of small plates, how does sausage roll with piccalilli, or popcorn ice cream with smoked fudge sauce sound? It’s perfect for an impromptu bite with chums: the four-person booths are thigh-slappingly fine.
Star dish: Crispy chicken wings with smoked paprika, garlic and lemon.
18 Charlotte St, W1T 2LY. 7580 3842. Goodge St. Meal for two with wine and service: around £40.
