Popping over to Broadway Market to satisfy that grumbling tummy this morning? Well The Trussell Trust charity has come up with a great idea to satisfy that do-gooder in you while you’re there.
Whilst you’re smugly drinking coffee and tasting cheese, you can also help combat food poverty by purchasing an empty food can. Yeah we know it’s probably not top of your wish list, but money from the sales will be used to support food banks that supply those less fortunate out there with some emergency food. The idea is that you ‘buy’ a can for a cheap-as-chips £3 and then hand it back to the deli who will donate the cash to the charity and sell the can on to the next lovely charitable being.
The Trussell Trust is a charity working to combat food poverty in the UK and it’ll be turning up at food markets and delis all over London to sell the empty cans. If you want to catch them at Broadway Market then we recommend heading over sometime between noon-2pm before they move on to their next spot. Or if you’re planning a lazy Saturday you can do it online at trusselltrust.org.
