The best antidote to the incoming grotty winter? Eat your own body weight in delicious street food, drink cocktails and – if you can still move afterwards – dance to tunes spun by top DJs. New, free pop-up party Turntables provides all of these fine things and many more.
Set in a canal-side location in Hackney Wick every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until late December, Turntables is the brainchild of several street food vendors and thus has a big foodie focus (expect grilled cheese sandwiches from The Cheese Truck, cunning culinary experimentation from Bill or Beak, hot dogs from Popdog and Caribbean treats from White Men Can’t Jerk), but also boasts an incredible line-up of DJs who’ll be soundtracking the scoffing and quaffing.
As well as numerous food shacks, there are three bars, a fire pit and huge tented areas to keep you warm and dry. The organisers are aiming for an inclusive, community-feel vibe, opting for a mix of famous faces and rising stars from the worlds of food and music.
